pitch
After a few years thinking about taking part into the Nikon Film Festival, we finally decided to submit a project for the first time. The theme of this record-breaking 14th edition: FIRE. Inspired by Jean-Jacques Annaud's film, I envisioned a modern take on the prehistoric La Guerre du Feu (Quest for Fire) in 2024. Even today, the struggle for warmth persists, especially among the homeless. Crac portrays this contemporary 'quest for fire,' focusing on two homeless individuals seeking both physical and emotional warmth for survival.

Photography
Due to technical limitations and also for the sake of realism, we didn't use any artificial lighting during the shooting. We had to adapt to various urban lighting conditions to unfold our narrative.

Crac
Crac is the sound of a match being struck. It's also the divide between two worlds: those with a roof over their heads and the others, those who struggle daily for their physical and mental survival in the face of society's global indifference.

References
Crac is at the crossroads of The Quest for Fire (Jean-Jacques Annaud) and The Lovers on the Bridge (Leos Carax), two references that were in my mind while developing the story of these two homeless individuals.

Custom Music Composition
Freely inspired by the chords of Gipsy Women (She’s homeless), I aimed to revisit this well-known melodic riff by transforming it into a more dramatic/dissonant tonality. The successive rhythm changes synchronize with the characters' wanderings in this urban tundra.
